Flesh Co. recently created a special Back Safety Training program initiated by their workman’s compensation insurance carrier.  The company was asked to create a team to assess the facility and conduct “best practice” research with other manufacturing companies.  The team focused on creating standard safety operating procedures to describe the proper method for lifting as well as a process for training the entire workforce.  Using a problem solving worksheet and Gemba walks, they developed what is known as a “target condition” which is set as the end goal.  Gemba walks are part of the Lean Manufacturing process where a team observes employee’s during work to gather insight and other data.  The final outcome generated a process to train, communicate, document and monitor the safety process and results generated, which will reduce risk and increase safe working practices within the organization.  The training included office staff as well as the production team.

Flesh Co. is a manufacturer of custom business forms and labels.  Their plant operations began in Parsons in 1968 and currently employs 160 associates.  The company produces $27,000,000.00 in business printing and is one of the leading independent business document printers in the USA.
